The second full day the Western Regional High Performance Camp in Colorado Springs saw the intensity tick up to a higher level as players continued to become acclimated to the weather and, perhaps more importantly, the altitude.
Just like the day prior, Monday began with with practices bright and early at Honnen Ice Arena, but with a bit of a twist.

Rather than the full-team practices that were conducted on Sunday, teams were split up by position as forwards and defensemen each had their own individual skills practice.

Monday also brought off-ice workouts, courtesy of Jordan James. In his second year working for the Western Regional High Performance Camp, James serves as the camp's strength and conditioning coach.
In addition to leading warm-up and cool-down routines with each team through before practice and games, James created a one-hour workout session for each team that blended competitive elements into a dynamic conditioning session.
The demanding workout concluded with one of the events of the week, a relay race between two teams that included agility ladders, hurdles, lunges, and weight carrying.

Later in the day, the WRHP Camp Seminar Series continued with a look at the United States Hockey League (USHL) and NCAA Hockey. After learning about the paths available in midget, prep, junior and ACHA hockey the day prior, Doug Christiansen of the USHL and representatives from College Hockey Inc. explained the benefits of both and how the two often benefit one another.

In the evening, the second slate of games commenced, and it certainly did not disappoint. See below:

Red - 4, Kelly Green - 1
Columbia Blue - 3, Orange - 5
White - 3, Royal Blue - 1
Gold - 2, Maroon - 3
Black - 3, Grey - 1

Remember to follow the WRHP Camp on Facebook and Twitter throughout the week for all of the behind-the-scenes action from Colorado Springs.
